More power for Phillips River Grazing's workshop
Phillips River Grazing's workshop needed more power than the grid could supply. Mac Coleman and Rural Power Solutions delivered a dedicated three-phase off-grid system for the Ravensthorpe farm.

The workshop needed more power
Mac Coleman and the Rural Power Solutions(opens in a new tab) crew built the farm's system in Ravensthorpe, Western Australia. They gave the workshop a dedicated three-phase off-grid supply, designed around power needs the available grid connection couldn't meet.
The workshop now has its own solar and battery supply, designed for the equipment it needs to run. We're stoked to have been part of this project.
We keep seeing this across our regional projects. Available grid capacity can limit what a farm or business can run today, and what it can develop next. At Phillips River Grazing, the team built the system around the workshop's power needs.
"They use more power in this workshop than what Western Power will supply them."
Mac Coleman, Rural Power Solutions
How the system supplies the workshop
On the workshop roof, 96 panels provide approximately 45 kW of installed solar capacity. Solar charge controllers convert the array's output for the 48 V battery system. The Victron Lynx distribution links those controllers, the battery bank and the inverter/chargers.
The RENOZ battery bank stores energy for the workshop to draw on when solar production isn't meeting demand. Three Victron MultiPlus inverter/chargers are configured together to provide the workshop's three-phase supply.
The Cerbo GX and local screen show what's happening in the system. The team can check solar output, battery charge and power going to the workshop. Our guide to RENOZ batteries with Victron explains more about this equipment pairing.

The crew behind the installation
Mac and the Rural Power Solutions crew led the installation, with help from other installation teams. The job brought together the rooftop array, battery bank, DC distribution and three-phase wiring inside the workshop.
RENOZ supplied the battery bank. We travelled to Ravensthorpe to help the crew commission the batteries and check their setup. We loved getting on site and working with the installers to bring the battery bank into service.
The Battery Works Australia team supplied the Victron gear. They also helped check the system setup during a commissioning call. Thank you to Alice Hobson Ellis, Troy Campbell and the whole Battery Works team for their support.
Mac described it as "a really big job, really exciting for the team". Huge congratulations to Mac, the Rural Power Solutions crew and everyone who worked on this installation. And thank you to Phillips River Grazing for having us involved.

Space for more inverter/chargers
Mac and the crew left space for more inverter/chargers. They also allowed for more units in the electrical layout if the workshop needs extra power later.
When planning power for a workshop, start with the equipment you need to run and the power already available at your site.
Project details and installer comments come from Mac Coleman's supplied Ravensthorpe walkthroughs.
The result for the workshop
Phillips River Grazing now has a dedicated three-phase off-grid system designed to power its workshop, with rooftop solar and RENOZ battery storage.
System Configuration
- Solar: 96 rooftop panels, approximately 45 kW of array capacity.
- Battery storage: 32 RENOZ modules in four towers of eight, around 160 kWh nominal.
- Inverter/chargers: three Victron MultiPlus units configured for three-phase power.
- Solar charging: four MPPT solar charge controllers.
- DC distribution: Victron Lynx.
- Monitoring: Cerbo GX and local display.
